Do do-do do do DORA!

So I walked in Jo Ann's the other day to look for orange fleece, to be exact. I needed something for babies for Halloween. WELL- they were having a huge sale on all kinds of fabrics- fleece being one of them. So I bought my orange (and even got a red for Christmas) and then found a Dora print. It was SO cute! Kensley is crazy about Dora lately- it's a little over the top, I'd say. :) But that's ok. So I the bright idea to make one of those tie blankets- no sew! I got a yard of Dora fabric and a yard of yellow for the back. I knew I didn't want to make really big, so I cut the fabric in half and was just going to make two- one for Kensley, one for Kallie. While I was making it, I texted Whitney a picture and she said she wanted me to make one for Hailey! (Hailey is also crazy over Dora!) SO- instead of giving the second one to Kallie (which really has no use for it anyways) we're going to mail it to miss Hailey Grace tomorrow! I hope she likes it :)

Here are some pictures:

This was before I got started. Now keep in mind, I had NO directions. And I probably did it wrong. But that's ok- the blankets still turned out cute!

Making progress....

And the finished product!

So there you have it :) Kensley is still down for her nap, but I'm sure she'll be thrilled when she wakes up to find her new Dora blanket!

**It cost right under $10 for fabric and it only took me about 30 minutes to make it!

It's getting cooler.... it's Halloween time!

We don't really celebrate Halloween- but I have fun dressing the girls up and taking pictures :) Here are a few we took earlier today. I bought the orange fleece to get some pictures of babies on. Kensley was being a toot.

This is Kallie's new face- it is so stinkin' cute to hear the noise she makes with it!

And this one is a little better....

And I loved this one of Kensley....

Milestones

I haven't really blogged lately on what's going on with our two littles ones. This may get wordy- but it's mainly for me to have something to read later. :)

Kensley- 25 months, almost! She is a little firecracker! She's starting to talk in sentences; short sentences, but sentences. It's too cute. She'll know what she wants to say and you can see her trying to get it out but she has to slow herself down. She loves to paint her fingernails and toe nails now. I never painted her fingernails because I knew she'd just chew on them. It was HER idea to have me paint them- and she doesn't mess with them! But the fast dry paint, in one coat, does NOT stay on very long! So sometimes I find myself being requested to paint her nails 3+ times a day. ::sigh:: She has also received quite a few time-outs and spankings lately. She tells me "No momma!" and then she'll hit at me. She won't actually hit me because she knows that's a "no no" but she just pushes the boundaries. I tell her to not touch something, she'll move her hand right next to it, but not touch it. I tell her to not hit me and she will hit herself- or hit at me but not touch me. When I put her in timeout, sometimes she sits there and doesn't talk, sometimes she's lets out this horrible, ear piercing scream. It's a short, quick scream. But she knows that she isn't suppose to do that. So then she'll get a spanking AND have to sit in time-out. whew. What a little mess!

Eating: She is still pretty picky. She eats breakfast really well. I always scramble us some eggs and we either eat pancakes/waffles or oatmeal. It is so funny because lately she LOVES syrup. So much so I walked in the kitchen one day and she had got it out of the pantry (it was almost empty) and had it turned up trying to drink it! YUK! Her reply was "it's goooood!". Then one day I was upstairs putting Kallie down for her nap and I walked back to the kitchen and Kensley had got the syrup out and poured it on her pancakes (I had left her breakfast sitting on the table because she never finished it). I asked her what she was doing and she told me she "put syrup on my pancakes". So other than eating a great breakfast, the rest of the day is unpredictable. She will ALWAYS have her vitamins; not because Mommy makes her take them, but because she NEVER lets me forget! As I am typing- she is chasing McCoy around with her stroller (which he HATES) but she dies laughing! She has a blast! She just laid on the ground and let out some fake cries- because "Coy boy" ran upstairs to get away from her. haha.

Sleeping: She is still taking an afternoon nap- about 2 hours. She goes to bed between 8-8:30 and wakes up around 7:30. She's such a great sleeper!

Kallie- 6 months
What a big girl! She started sitting up on her own around 5.5 months. She can sit there for an hour without tumbling over. She never really had many tips. She has just recently started making FORWARD progress when she's on her tummy! Kent put his phone out in front of her the other day and she was inching towards it! She'll be crawling soon, I'm sure. But I'm not going to rush it! :) She loves to spit right now- it's so funny. When she gets on a roll, it'll last 10 minutes! She's starting to say consonants- bababababa, nanananananna..... her tongue- it's hilarious and I really need to try to get video footage. It's long and she sticks it out all the time! She is starting to really notice when I leave the room. She'll start crying. She'll also let you know when she wants something, that's for sure! She loves water bottles- she'll chew on one of those for forever! You can get one out and when she sees it she starts getting all excited.
Clothing wise- she is wearing 9 month clothes now. Size 3 diapers.

Eating: this is a touchy issue right now. I waited until 5 months to start cereal. Then at about 5.5 months (when we got back from Texas) I started fruits. She loves bananas and I think she likes applesauce and pears. However, none of that she will eat plain. It has to be with cereal. She will tear into some cereal. Now with that said- I started pears last and she developed a HORRIBLE diaper rash. Poor thing had pooped after EVERY diaper change. I am still not sure if it was a stomach bug or if it was the fruit. I cut out all fruit and am just giving her cereal now. The rash is SO much better today, thankfully. She was in so much pain. I let her roll around on towels for about an hour a day so she could get some relief. I'll go to veggies this week, probably. Then I will slowly put fruits back in her diet.

Sleeping: She takes two naps a day- her morning nap is a bit sketchy. Just depends on what we're doing with Kensley. She'll take a 2 hour one in the morning (if Kensley doesn't bust in her room before then- she loves to wake Kallie up) and then she'll take another afternoon nap for a couple hours. She's been going down between 7:45-8 and gets up between 7-7:20.

I believe that's about it for now!

Life is so fragile

Well, today has really just drug by. I'm surprised it's already 5:30 but it's just been a blah day. Last night my mom called to tell me that my cousin's best friend was killed in a car wreck. I didn't know her that well but she was at every function/party my cousin had and she was always SO nice and friendly. She would go out of her way to talk to everyone there; even if she didn't know you that well. I took it a lot harder than I thought I would. Maybe it's because I'm a mom now- and it just breaks my heart to even think about losing a child. Courtney was a probably 27 or 28, engaged to her boyfriend of 11 years and was going to be married in January. She had recently went to try on wedding dresses and pick out bridesmaid dresses. My heart breaks for her mom and family & friends. We don't always know WHY things happen- God has his reasons. All I know is heaven just received a beautiful young lady (inside and out).

Please pray for her family & friends. Although she was taken from earth at such a young age, she is having the time of her life up in Heaven now; no worries, no pain, nothing negative. How great is that?

"Stir Kallie's Cereal"

This is what Kensley says AS SOON as I start getting out the bowl and cereal for Kallie. She likes to sit beside me and hold the bowl (and smell it and gag- weird, yes!). Here are some pictures from one of Kallie's meals :) Goodness I just love these girls to death!

She wanted to actually help out this day. It's usually just stirring.

Love her!

And my favorite of them all.....

My 26th Birthday

What a busy day! While Kent wasn't able to spend it with us, I still managed to have a very good day. :)

I got up this morning and started my day with P90X. I am really enjoying the workouts. We then had a crazy morning- busy taking McCoy to the vet, going to a play date & running a few more errands before coming home to a late lunch and nap time. I picked up the house while the girls napped and tried to catch up on some other things. After nap, my next door neighbor and her girls had us over for birthday dinner. It was so nice of them- I really enjoyed it (and of course Kensley did too! She loves the older girls).

Kallie decided to give me a little gift as well...... after eating yummy spaghetti and digging into my carrot cake and ice cream, I picked Kallie up to find this!

Ahh! Thanks Kallie :)

And as we walked back home, Sheila got a picture of me with my girls....... what a great 26th birthday! I am so blessed with wonderful family & friends. We missed daddy a TON but are so thankful for him working so hard to give us the life we have.

Hershey Chocolate World

Day 2 of our little get away. We headed to Hershey World on Sunday morning. We got there just in time. As we left, there were LOADS of people headed inside.

Here is our group. We had a lot of fun with the Knowles family. Kensley just LOVES Kylie!

Here we are on the Chocolate Factory Tour

So here's the low down on this whole "make your own chocolate bar" thing. It was a lot of fun. It would have been a heck of a lot better if you didn't have to CARRY the kids around. I had to carry Kallie with me the whole time- she weighs 20lbs! NOT FUN! But the whole idea was really neat and I'm glad we did it. It was just a lot of stress on Kent and I. The first stressor came when they told us we had to put hair nets & aprons on. Seriously? Kensley HATES things on her head. Here we go.....

(Note: I am trying to take pictures of this whole excursion while carrying a 20lb 6 month old on my hip)

Daddy is attempting to get Miss Priss "dressed"

And this is what we dealt with a lot before we got inside. (I didn't get the pictures of her throwing a fit because, well, I had a 6 month old to hold too.... it was a little tough.)

Looks like we're about to go into a surgery or something- entering a sterile environment! haha
(notice Hayden to the left- he was having fun with his hair net!)

Daddy showing Kensley where her chocolate bar was. She LOVED the chocolate- go figure ;) This was the first time she's ever had chocolate bars.

This conveyer belt was where the "fixings" were poured onto the bar.

Cute, huh?

Come on family- Act happy real quick! ;-)

The Knowles Family

Here are some souvenirs. The tins with their names on them are the chocolate bars we made. You could personalize what went on the bars and then personalize the outside wrapper.

And here are some more pictures that either I or Karissa took while at the museum.

I'll post more pictures from making the chocolate bar when I get a chance.

Hershey Park 2010

We had such a good time at Hershey Park this weekend. Ben & Karissa were able to join us and that made it even better! It's always fun to have another family to enjoy the trip with. We got our tickets at the beginning of the summer from a boy scout troop. They were discounted 50%! We had a GREAT time and got our money's worth, no doubt!

Here are some pictures to share. Enjoy!

He loves to play these games

They're so cute! Hayden loves Kallie :)

Just a neat picture- or so I thought :)

Happy 6 months Kallie!

Our precious baby girl is 6 months old! Whew! I remember thinking about WHEN Kensley would hit different milestones.... it's so different with the 2nd. It seems like every morning when we wake up, she's hit another milestone! AHH!!

First Day of MDO

Well, Kensley had a GRET first day of school! She was so excited to go and didn't even realize I left the room!

And this is why she forgot I was even leaving her.......
