Happy Memorial Day!

A huge thanks to all of the current military men & women who put their life on the line to protect us. And a big thanks to the past military men & women and all the families effected. What a huge sacrifice and just know it will not go unknown! THANK YOU!

We had a low key Memorial Day. We played around the house and ventured outside for a little bit-- it was 94 degrees out! I ran to Target to pick up groceries and pool toys. I bought a couple little bug houses. They're too cute-- and only $2! Kensley loved hers and looked for bugs but didn't have much luck. I told her it was probably way too hot outside for any bugs to be out. So she filled hers with pinecones :)

After getting entirely too hot outside, we had cups of ice water and sat down to watch Strawberry Shortcake.

Kent cooked us dinner-- grilled porkchops & corn on the cob with steamed red potatoes. All in all, we had a wonderful weekend!

Shoot and Edit: Week 21 - Looking Up SOOC

I like to follow Ashley's blog because she loves photography and well, so do I! You can learn a ton by just following her and participating in her daily challenges. I wish I could keep up with it like she does. But alas, I have two little girls who keep me from blogging like I wish I could--- I need to discipline myself, I guess.

She and Jill do a Good to Wow series that is worth participating in!

Here is my SOOC shot. This is my soon to be sister-in-law. We recently went to a wheat field and took some pictures. When I saw the "looking up" theme this week, I immediately thought of this picture. It's probably not the best, but she's looking up- so it fits, right?! ;)

Settings: ISO400 2.8 1.640 <-- looking back, I'm not sure why my ISO was at 400? It was cloudy but I'm sure I could have dropped it to 200..... my shutter speed was high enough! Live and learn, right?

It's summer time!

Pools are opened now! Yay!

We walked down to the neighborhood pool today. The girls had a lot of fun- especially Kensley. She had fun playing with all the other kids. I'm going to have to head to Target to grab some pool toys for her :) Kallie had fun for a little bit--- then she started whining. I think she was getting tired. Poor baby girl whines more than anything right now!

DFW visit

The girls and I went up to DFW to visit some good friends. We had such a great time!

First, we went to meet baby Beckham. Oh my goodness he is ADORABLE! I wish I could have actually held him- it's so different now that i Have two little ones- trying to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't destroy other people's things!- I don't get to really cuddle with other babies! We got to eat some yummy "chicken spaghetti"... I put that in parenthesis because that's what I called it but Holly said it was something else. Whatever it was- I want the recipe.... k, Holly? Thanks ;) Kensley and Maddox played outside the whole time- Kensley had a blast! Unfortunately, our visit was cut short because we had to make a trip to her old pediatrician to check a tick bit she got over a week ago. (She got an antibiotic to be preventative.... and everything looks ok)

Right before these pictures, Maddox demonstrated how to tee-tee off the back porch. LOL Too funny!

Poor Toby!

and here's Beckham. I was trying to get some pictures of some hats I have---- but it was a fail. Oh well. :) He still looks cute!

So after heading to the dr, we stopped at the town square to meet up with Jamie and her newest addition, Andrew. Sorry, no pictures. I was busy making sure Kallie didn't run out in the street  while chasing the birds. She and Kensley had fun running around and it was so nice to visit Jamie. Her little boy is ADORABLE!

Whitney and Hailey met us soon after. Kensley and Hailey immediately started running around playing. They are too cute together. We headed to Mi Cocina to eat- yummy! I attempted to get a margarita and enjoy it. What was I thinking? I probably got 5 sips. Boo!

We had a REALLY late night. Kensley and Hailey partied like rock stars- until 11:30! And we finally had to just take them away from each other and force them to sleep. :) We woke up the next morning- Whitney cooked the girls a yummy breakfast and I headed to the eye doctor.... for my consultation for LASIK!!!! AHHH! I am so excited! I'll have it done in July. I.can't.wait.  After my appointment, we loaded up the girls and headed to a nearby park to get some pictures. Here are a few of them. Aren't they adorable?!

After our little session at the park, we headed to Aspen Creek- this is where Whitney's husband works. The food was really good! Lindsey even got to join us :)

After lunch, Whitney and I headed to BRU so I could find a double umbrella stroller. Yes, another stroller. Kent doesn't know about it yet. :/ But I'll use it! Promise! haha I really do think it was a good investment. :)

So now we're back at Nonnie & poppy's. The girls are having a blast and we are enjoying our last few days here as much as possible.

Dentist anyone?

Nonnie had a dentist appointment today and Kent and I wanted Kensley to join in and just go see what the dentist office was like. We told her the dentist was going to count her teeth. She was excited! .... little did we know, she would be getting a full cleaning! Bonnie (she also cleaned my teeth my entire life!) just kept going with the flow. Kensley asked her to put the tooth paste on her teeth- so she polished her teeth AND flossed them! (Luckily I had my camera in the car)

Look at my big girl!

Happy Mother's Day!

What a wonderful Mother's Day! We were able to spend it with all of our family.

We had Kallie dedicated. This is something we should have done a LONG time ago but it has been so hard to get Kent to be in town and get to church. It was tough because she was NOT still. At all. But we made it through. :)

Afterwards, we headed to lunch with the entire family- both sides!

This picture is funny in a few ways....
First- Yes, that is Kyle's head magically appearing. He had to work so we wanted him to be a part of the big picture. So there he is :)
Second- Kallie LOVES Kristyn. Like, LOVES her. It's too funny. So somehow Kent and I managed to pawn our daughters off on the engaged couple ;) Giving them some practice and birth control- all in one.

Checking in!

It's been 10 days since I blogged last! Where has time gone?! We are having a blast with family. Here are a few pictures to share.

I am super busy right now with editing and have a mini session scheduled for tomorrow with 5+ families! I am having a blast but staying super busy :)

Is it May already?!

Where has this year gone to?! We're almost half way through. Geez.

We've been staying busy around the house and going to play dates. And going to the gym. I've been so proud of myself- I go regularly every week and LOVE it. The classes are GREAT. I usually get burnt out fast..... but I haven't yet.

Kensley came home from school today with this.

Sweet, huh? One reason I love preschool! haha

Today was the fire station tour. Kensley LOVED it! Kallie--- well, she clung to me for a while and would only get down for a minute or two.

Updates on the girls

KENSLEY

Wow, this girl is SO funny. I need to get a pen and pad to keep with me at all times to write down things she says. It cracks me up.
-She is currently singing "Happy Birthday to me" while Kallie bear hugs her from behind and laughs.
-She is starting to tattle. Kallie will hit her and she'll say "momma! Kallie hit me!" Ugh. and it begins.
-She loves to sing "Jesus Loves Me" and "Wheel on the Bus"
-She loves to ride in Kallie's car seat. We have numerous meltdowns over it.
-She (still) loves to run around the house with no clothes on. Panties only.
-She loves her pacifier more than anything right now.... which stinks.... because I really need to break her of it! If hers isn't out, she steals Kallie's
-She loves "surprises"
-She's not my little breakfast eater anymore :( She use to always eat a big breakfast.... she hasn't been here lately.
-She's in a toddler bed
-I have to lay with her until she goes to sleep
-She can run. fast.
-Her and Kent have a game where he chases her around while she holds a ball. She bugs him all weekend to play ball. It's funny.
-She loves to talk on the phone. Whoever I am talking to- she'll ask "who is that?". I'll tell her who it is and her next question is "Can I talk to ______?"
-She likes to help herself to letting McCoy out in the back yard. She'll go MIA and the next thing I here is her outside yelling "ACOY!" (yes, she calls him "Acoy" (uh-coy) when she yells for him)
-She has her days where she likes to "take pitchers" (pictures) Mommy's dream ;)
-She talks about going to the beach when I pull out a couple outfits. haha I mentioned she was going to wear them to the beach when she first got them- now that's all she associates those outfits with

KALLIE

-STILL a momma's girl!
-Loves her pacifier & purple blanket
-Says "dada" all.the.time. If she sees a man- she yells "dada!"
-Loves to beat up on Kensley. She plays rough. In fact, the other little girls her age that we know- they don't like to play with Kallie. :/
-Loves to play with chalk. She is so funny- she'll draw a picture in a heart beat :)
-Did I mention she is still a mommy's girl? ;) I'm telling you- I think she thinks I supply her oxygen
-she runs around like a wild woman; rarely just walks around the house
-She likes to just sit on the bottom stair. And just look around.
-She will NOT look at a camera if it's in my hands. She won't. Refuses. So all her pictures from this point in her life will be of the top/back/side of her head. Or looking at me like I'm crazy.
-She is the world's messiest eater. No matter what time of day. It's ridiculous. I can NOT keep that child clean. If her hair was clean before she sat down, it won't be when she gets done. Ridiculous.
-She has one girl that works in the nursery at the gym that she goes straight to every time we go. It's so sweet. <3
-She loves bananas and grapes. Graham crackers.
-She sleeps like a champ. I put her down around 7:30 and she'll sleep until 7-7:30 the next morning.
