Kensley's World at 3.5 years old

What is going on with Miss Kensley at 3.5? Well, to say the least, she is a precious, kind hearted, tender loving little girl that, on a daily basis, makes me fall in love with her more and more. I feel like I can't love her any more and then I wake up the next morning and watch her throughout the day. Gah- she rocks my world!
I did mention her being so kind hearted- and she really is- but she can also be a little turd. haha. She knows how to push Kallie's buttons- and knows to do it only when Mommy isn't looking! Little stinker. But even with the little battles her and Kallie get in, they still love eachother so much- and that makes my heart swell up. Seriously.
She loves to eat: Turkey Sandwiches Yogurt Popsicles Strawberries Bananas Carrots Veggie Fries (something her friend Lexi would take to school in her lunch- so we had to get some!) Pancakes Waffles Oreos ANYthing sweet (or chocolate)----> (she's got my sweet tooth) My favorite time of day to be with her is before bedtime. Kent and I usually take turns putting each girl to bed (I am usually with Kallie). When I have my nights with Kensley, I savor every moment. She likes to just sit and talk. We've been talking about God being upset when she's mean to people. She has a friend at school who has older sisters- older as in 16 year old sister. Can you imagine what hormonal outbreaks this little 3 year old has witnessed?!? lol - I'm not being judgmental- I'm being REAL! Seriously- pre-teen and teen girls are crazy! Anyways, she would say things (not terribly bad--- just all the stuff like "you're not my friend". "I don't like her". "I don't want to play with you".) that Kensley picked up on and Kensley started treating friends in her class like that. Does this make sense? Anyways- to make a long story short- I've been trying to drill it into Kensley that she needs to be nice to EVERYONE. All of the bullying that is going on these days is so scary- I do NOT want my girls to be a part of those actions. I just pray that everything we talk about will help her develop compassion to others. I *pray* it does. So she's been asking a lot: "Is God upset because I ________?" This opens up opportunities for me to talk about God to her- I hope it's all sinking in and she's wrapping her head around it.

Let's see---- what else is going on with KK that I'd like to document.....
*Every morning, she wakes up and tells me if she has a dry or wet pullup (unfortunately, it's still pretty wet each morning). She'll tell me it's wet and then immediately, in the same breath, asks if Kallie's is wet too. She's so competitive. both of them are. Already.
*Wakes up around 6:45-7:15 in the mornings. For a while it was 7:30-8. Not sure why she's starting to wake up earlier now :(

*Goes to bed between 8-8:30

*Loves school and wants to go back. She doesn't realize it's summer though! haha
*Asks to go to Cora & Clayton's quite a bit. She loves our neighbors!

March Madness!

No, I am not referring to basketball ;) I'm not sure what I'm referring to actually--- just the fact that it's been close to a month since I've blogged. Lots has gone on!

Kallie:
She is almost TWO! T-W-O. Crazy! She's still not talking very well. She's getting better, but still a ways to go. She has a pretty tough temper. If she doesn't like something, she'll tell you- (by screaming and throwing a fit). I guess since she still can't talk really well, she gets her frustrations out by just yelling and going crazy?! *and this too, shall pass* Other than our communication struggles, she is so much fun. Her little smile melts my heart and the way she loves her sister (for the most part) is sweet. Anything Kensley wants, she'll go get for her (Kensley knows how to work that, too). ;) As far as eating- she could eat oatmeal all day, every day. Seriously. She'll tell you she wants "moat-meal". lol and "cock-cet meal". She loves her chocolate milk (in limited quantities!) Here are some pictures we took for her invitations and party.

Kensley:
She keeps us smiling every day. She is full of spunk and has her days/moments that are full of attitude. She is big into "friends". She likes to tell you if you're her friend or not. She tells us she does (or doesn't) like someone. She came home today from the park with Kent and told me some boy was at the play ground and she did not like him. He was bothering her. She did not want him to bother her. HA! Kent said both of the girls were little turds to the little boy. :/
And here's miss Kensley in her sweet state. ;)

And last weekend, Kent built the girls a lemonade stand. I wanted to have it for Kallie's birthday party--- the girls love it!

The weekend is almost over. Church in the morning and then we get to see family for lunch! This week we get to have Whitney, Hailey & Harper over for a few days. We are SO excited!!!!

Updates on the girls

Kensley
Potty training
Going strong! :) She loves her Dora panties. See this post.

speaking sentences
She is talking so well now! It just blows my mind and I am so proud of her :) She is always saying something that makes me laugh. I need to try to get them on the video camera. She is also starting to really sing the songs to tv shows. Of course, Dora- and there's a show called the "Fresh Beat Band" on Nick Jr. It's a cute show- and she's started singing the song they sing at the end. And I'm guessing they count a lot in it? She runs around the house saying "1-2-3-5-6-7-9-10!" She says something like that really fast. If she slows down, she can count correctly....

Playing ball with Daddy
This is a game they have recently started playing- within the past few weeks, I guess. It's funny because I think Kent enjoys it as much as she does. She runs around and he tries to throw the ball at her. He doesn't hit her usually, but every now and then he'll get her leg or arm and she just dies laughing! Not sure what makes getting hit so fun? But they do it. A lot.

Kallie

diaper issues
She STILL has had a rash on her bottom and I finally took her to the dr. Ended up having some bacteria as well a yeast infection so she is on two meds. Looks a LOT better! However, now she has a cold. First time she's been sick. Ever. She hates the bulb- so that is a nightmare! I tried to get Kent to help me but he didn't like to see her scream.

eating/foods
She isn't too big on eating. She's a little picky. She likes green beans and squash. She has that a lot. I'll try to throw in peas and carrots- she won't eat a whole jar, but she'll eat some. She really likes the peaches I make and I just made her pears and she's not too hot on those. But I'll keep trying. Now that she's got a cold, i'm having a hard time getting her to eat anything! She does love her cereal w/fruit and oatmeal w/fruit!

crawling
She's speed crawling now! It's so funny- when she sees her mommy, she crawls 90-0!

pulling up
She's pulling up on everything. Everything. I'm sure she'll figure out how to get on her feet soon.

almost to a big car seat
Almost! She's 22lbs and I am just about DONE trying to carry that heavy carrier! And trying to throw her up in the Tahoe--- that's going to be the death of my back! So she'll be getting a big girl seat VERY soon!

1st birthday
Yes. I said it. Crazy that it's only 4 months away, huh?! I am already brainstorming ideas. I tried to get things together for Kensley's and then slacked off- then we moved- so I didn't get to do everything I would have liked to do. So with Kallie's 1st, I'm determined to be prepared!! Let the planning begin!

Milestones

I haven't really blogged lately on what's going on with our two littles ones. This may get wordy- but it's mainly for me to have something to read later. :)

Kensley- 25 months, almost! She is a little firecracker! She's starting to talk in sentences; short sentences, but sentences. It's too cute. She'll know what she wants to say and you can see her trying to get it out but she has to slow herself down. She loves to paint her fingernails and toe nails now. I never painted her fingernails because I knew she'd just chew on them. It was HER idea to have me paint them- and she doesn't mess with them! But the fast dry paint, in one coat, does NOT stay on very long! So sometimes I find myself being requested to paint her nails 3+ times a day. ::sigh:: She has also received quite a few time-outs and spankings lately. She tells me "No momma!" and then she'll hit at me. She won't actually hit me because she knows that's a "no no" but she just pushes the boundaries. I tell her to not touch something, she'll move her hand right next to it, but not touch it. I tell her to not hit me and she will hit herself- or hit at me but not touch me. When I put her in timeout, sometimes she sits there and doesn't talk, sometimes she's lets out this horrible, ear piercing scream. It's a short, quick scream. But she knows that she isn't suppose to do that. So then she'll get a spanking AND have to sit in time-out. whew. What a little mess!

Eating: She is still pretty picky. She eats breakfast really well. I always scramble us some eggs and we either eat pancakes/waffles or oatmeal. It is so funny because lately she LOVES syrup. So much so I walked in the kitchen one day and she had got it out of the pantry (it was almost empty) and had it turned up trying to drink it! YUK! Her reply was "it's goooood!". Then one day I was upstairs putting Kallie down for her nap and I walked back to the kitchen and Kensley had got the syrup out and poured it on her pancakes (I had left her breakfast sitting on the table because she never finished it). I asked her what she was doing and she told me she "put syrup on my pancakes". So other than eating a great breakfast, the rest of the day is unpredictable. She will ALWAYS have her vitamins; not because Mommy makes her take them, but because she NEVER lets me forget! As I am typing- she is chasing McCoy around with her stroller (which he HATES) but she dies laughing! She has a blast! She just laid on the ground and let out some fake cries- because "Coy boy" ran upstairs to get away from her. haha.

Sleeping: She is still taking an afternoon nap- about 2 hours. She goes to bed between 8-8:30 and wakes up around 7:30. She's such a great sleeper!

Kallie- 6 months
What a big girl! She started sitting up on her own around 5.5 months. She can sit there for an hour without tumbling over. She never really had many tips. She has just recently started making FORWARD progress when she's on her tummy! Kent put his phone out in front of her the other day and she was inching towards it! She'll be crawling soon, I'm sure. But I'm not going to rush it! :) She loves to spit right now- it's so funny. When she gets on a roll, it'll last 10 minutes! She's starting to say consonants- bababababa, nanananananna..... her tongue- it's hilarious and I really need to try to get video footage. It's long and she sticks it out all the time! She is starting to really notice when I leave the room. She'll start crying. She'll also let you know when she wants something, that's for sure! She loves water bottles- she'll chew on one of those for forever! You can get one out and when she sees it she starts getting all excited.
Clothing wise- she is wearing 9 month clothes now. Size 3 diapers.

Eating: this is a touchy issue right now. I waited until 5 months to start cereal. Then at about 5.5 months (when we got back from Texas) I started fruits. She loves bananas and I think she likes applesauce and pears. However, none of that she will eat plain. It has to be with cereal. She will tear into some cereal. Now with that said- I started pears last and she developed a HORRIBLE diaper rash. Poor thing had pooped after EVERY diaper change. I am still not sure if it was a stomach bug or if it was the fruit. I cut out all fruit and am just giving her cereal now. The rash is SO much better today, thankfully. She was in so much pain. I let her roll around on towels for about an hour a day so she could get some relief. I'll go to veggies this week, probably. Then I will slowly put fruits back in her diet.

Sleeping: She takes two naps a day- her morning nap is a bit sketchy. Just depends on what we're doing with Kensley. She'll take a 2 hour one in the morning (if Kensley doesn't bust in her room before then- she loves to wake Kallie up) and then she'll take another afternoon nap for a couple hours. She's been going down between 7:45-8 and gets up between 7-7:20.

I believe that's about it for now!
