Happy 4th Weekend!

Well, we have headed down South to visit our parents. We are trying to come down here as often as we can before we move up North. They have really enjoyed the time they've had with Kensley. Kent came home from Vegas with a bad cough. He ended up going to the doctor and getting medicine... well, unfortunately, I have that cough now and miss Kensley isn't feeling too well either. I believe part of it is teething- her gums look pretty swollen and the past week she hasn't been too big on eating. She still has NO teeth- so maybe by her first birthday she'll have one :-)

I got a new camera lens last week and am IN LOVE with it! It's got a good zoom on it- so it will come in handy when we sight see in Virginia & Maryland. I'll have to post some pictures I have taken with it when I get back home.

We'll be headed to the park in the morning for the festivities. I'm excited to take Kensley. We're going to watch the dog parade- she LOVES dogs, so she'll enjoy that. I've also been making bows for a store, Sassy Sisters- they're going to have a booth set up and put up my bows & tutus. I hope they sell!!!

Until next time, HAVE A SAFE & WONDERFUL 4th!

Productive day.....

Well, so far today Kensley & I have made it to the gym (worked out with Megan) and then we went to eat lunch at Jason's Deli. Now we're home- Kensley is napping- and I'm about to start cleaning the house and maybe pack a little.

I never posted the 4th of July pictures I took of Kensley last week. They turned out SOOO GOOD! I'm so glad we didn't pay $100 somewhere else to get them taken. I must say, my model is very photogenic ;-)

To update on our moving--- we will probably be moving at the end of the month.... but there is a very important word in that sentence.... PROBABLY... so who knows... it may be later... I still haven't packed anything in probably a month, but I feel like I may need to start going again. We've found a home there- just have to make an offer... hopefully that will be a smooth process. I'm getting a little excited to get up there- I'm ready to start going to see different things :)
Well I need to be productive before Kensley wakes up... I always find myself wanting to be productive during her naps- but then I end up on the computer!!!! Sometimes I wish Kent had it password protected....... :-)

10 Months!

Well, I can't believe it- Kensley is 10 months old today! Only two months until she turns 1 :-(
We have been so blessed with such a happy, beautiful baby girl. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. Here are a couple pictures from the past couple days...

I'm going to steal and idea from a dear friend... :-) Just to summarize what miss Kensley is in to now, at 10 months....

*Weighs 19 lbs

* She LOVES her mommy :)

* When her daddy walks in the room, her face lights up! It's so sweet!

* She likes to spit... not a good habit, I know... if she were in daycare, the teachers would be getting on to her like crazy!

* She poops like crazy!

* She still likes her baby food, but I think she's starting to lean more toward finger foods

* She's tried cut up grapes, apples, turkey/ham lunch meat... and LOVES it!

* She LOVES LOVES LOVES her mixed berry yogurt melts... and her puffs... but she'd prefer yogurt melts over puffs

* She loves apple juice

* She'll drink formula now! She's actually weaning herself from nursing! (I have mixed emotions about that!)

* She has one mean crawl!

* She loves her McCoy!

* She loves to swing

* She likes to go on walks in the stroller

* She doesn't much like long car rides now...we have to turn on Baby Einstein or stop and take a break

* She went on her first air plane ride (actually at 9 months)

* She talks all the time!

* She shakes her head at you when you talk to her- or ask her a question... if you tell her "No", she'll shake her head no at you as well. It's SO cute!

Prayers needed....

I don't know how many people actually read my blog- but I wanted to put a couple prayer requests out there for you guys.

1. My mom has been really sick throughout this past year. She is one that NEVER gets sick! She has been to the doctor twice and they can't figure out what is wrong. She stays weak & has coughing spells at night that sometimes make her throw-up. I am going with her to the doctor today- it's a different one than the one she has gone to before. Please pray for strength & healing with my mother and then pray that the doctor has guidance while trying to diagnose my mother. If you've never been ill for a long period before, just know, it is very depressing for her!

2. Our move up north. I have been trying not to think about it- but we really need prayers. Please pray that we have a safe move and that things go right once we're up there. May God's will be done!

Thanks so much!!

Love,
Kristen

No Jon & Kate!!!!

I never really was a fan of Jon & Kate + 8. I would watch it some when I use to watch Baby Stories on TLC... it always came on afterwards... then when all of the tabloids started talking about the two, I thought I would start DVR'ing the new episodes. SOOOO, last night I watched the BIG one.... I was so upset! Kate acted like she would have really liked to make the marriage work, and Jon acted like he could care less- that he was out of there! Way to give up on his family! They both say they want to do "what's best for the family".... getting a divorce is one of the most selfish things... they are obviously in need of two things: 1- Church.....they need a relationship with God, as do their children (the show never shows anything about them being involved in a church, so that's why I am making that statement) 2- counseling!!! It's just so sad.... it'll be interesting to see what the rest of this season holds...

ALSO, Secret Life of an American Teenager came back on last night! Yes, I watch it! haha I got hooked on it because for a while, I would turn it to the family channel and watch old reruns of Full House and then a few other cute little shows... they would always advertise that show- so I watched the premiere show last year, and thought "man this is really cheesy"... but of course I had to keep watching it to see what happened! haha So it's back on now... I enjoy watching cheesey little shows :)

Aside for TV, I believe we have a teethy baby girl at the Vest residence. She is just not herself! I've had a hard time getting her to eat much... she's just about weaned herself from nursing. She takes sippy cups now, which is nice. I just hope she's not too miserable this week- we're going to visit my parents all week because Kent will be out of town. I always enjoy going there for an extended stay. Everyone is at work and Kensley & I can spend quality time with Ging. I'll also be helping my mom out with house work- she's been sick & the doctors don't know what is going on. All her chest x-rays are normal, but she still has an uncontrollable cough and it's taking just about everything out of her. I feel so bad for her- I know it's got to be hard to feel so bad, all the time and the doctors have no idea what's going on. Prayers are needed, to say the least! Also, Kent will be looking at some houses I found on the internet.... please pray that he finds one we can put an offer on! It would be nice to know we have somewhere to live when we get up North :)

Here's a few recent pictures from a playdate... we went to the pool- so we put all the babies in the tub afterwards to get the sunscreen off... it was pretty funny

While Kensley naps....

Last night broke our record of sleeping all night! AHH! Kensley was doing SO good about going to bed around 8-8:30 and not getting up until 7. She has a pretty bad diaper rash, so I'm not sure if that's what woke her up, or what. She could also be teething- she's had more poopy diapers than ever here lately! Hopefully it will pass and she'll start sleeping all night again.
Yesterday we went to Holly's and got to go to the pool. It was a fun day! Whitney & Hailey came in so they got to come too. I've really missed Whitney being so close-----have I mentioned that before? haha As I was sitting in the living room floor this morning playing with Kensley, I was racking my brain of who I could call to come play today that lived close and has a baby Kensley's age. Hailey & Kensley play so well together... I need a clone of Miss Hailey- can you do that for me Whitney? haha Here's some pictures of our fun day yesterday!

It's getting closer....

When the time comes to move up north, that is. People keep asking "how's packing going"? Well, honestly, I just try not to think about it :) I just don't pack :) There are so many unknowns about this move, it's a little frustrating. However, I have total trust in God with this situation. I think that's why I'm having an easy time "just not thinking about it". Our house is on the market here, no offers yet. We still haven't found a house up there, but I know it'll all be ok. In the mean time, we're enjoying our first Texas summer with miss Kensley. She loves the water and playing with other babies. Today, I took her to church and she stayed in the nursery while I worked out and had lunch with my life group laidies. They are they best! Such great women of God- I'm so glad I've found them. I am going to miss them SO MUCH!... but again, remember, I'm not thinking about the move :)

Anyways, we're excited that we may get to see Whitney & Hailey this week. We have REALLY missed them! It was so nice to have her down the street and we could go play or they could come over. It's harder now since Kensley is really mobile and could use those play dates! :-) But we'll take what time we can get with them!

Lastly, BIRTHDAYS! In 2 1/2 months, Kensley will be ONE YEAR! AHHH! I can't believe it! It makes me want to cry! I'm going to start planning her birthday party- that should be fun :) Any cute ideas??????

just wasting a little time...

Kensley slept ALL NIGHT last night! She went down at 8:15 and didn't get up until 7:30. However, she was up- ate a little bit of her cereal (not much at all) and some puffs... then was back to sleep by 8:30! It is now 10:50 and she is still asleep. She must be growing! :-)...(oh I hear her now in her crib!)

Yesterday was the first day of Wacky Week at our church. It's like a vacation bible school. I signed up to volunteer and they're nursery was open so I could put Kensley in there. I had such a good time. I am in the room with the 5 year olds... I enjoyed watching all of them play and interact. I could just see KEnsley there in a few years! It's crazy! We go again today and tomorrow. I think it was a good idea to volunteer- got us out of the house!

I've been making some 4th of July bows & tutus. They are SO cute! I am thinking about doing a little photo shoot- maybe try getting some friends to join in and just charge a really small fee. I'm going to try to get some good pictures of Kensley with her bow & tutu on.... so pictures to come soon, I'm sure! :)

What a nice weekend :)

We got to see the grandparents this weekend- it was really nice! I headed that way on Friday morning. Kensley & I got to spend the day with Ging. I like to go early and visit with her. She is so special to me & I know it means the world to her to get to spend time with Kensley. My mom's afternoon off happened to be Friday as well- so we all got to hang out at Ging's. After a wonderful homecooked lunch of roast, potatoes & green beans (MY FAVORITE!) we all headed to a resale shop to see if we could find Kensley a toy. I had been wanting to get her a toy that she could pull herself up to and play on- and we found it! I also talked with the owner and she may start carrying my tutus in her shop! Yea! Here is a picture of miss Kensley & her new toy. She's learning how to take steps with it. It's so fun to watch her! Man she's getting big!

Saturday we had a busy day. That morning, we headed to the land to check on the cows with Mark & Liz (Grumpy/Gramps & Nana). <- not sure what Kensley will call her grandpa! We'll see! Anyways, we had a scare at first- thought someone had come in and got all of the cows... but they found them in one of the back corners. WHEW! Here's a few pictures from the morning... Kensley had fun!

After we got back from the land, we had a pool party to go to. Kensley LOVED the pool! She kept sticking her mouth in the water to get a drink. She was a mess. And she splashed the whole time she was in the pool! I took her float, but she wanted me to hold her. She could play in the water better with me holding her.

Sunday we went to church. Kensley was not her normal self this weekend. She is usually a really happy baby and plays really well. I think she may be teething. I put her in the nursery- they ended up coming into the church to get me because she was crying hysterically! Poor baby! She's also at the age where unfamiliar faces scare her. She knows her grandparents, which is great! That gives me a break! :o) She had a blast playing with her Nonnie & Poppy and her Nana & Gramps!

Here are a few pictures of her with her cute little dress on.

Exciting weekend ahead!

This week is cruisin' on by.... I'm attempting to get this house picked up and cleaned so it's ready in case a realtor wants to show it. It's going to be a job in itself just keeping this house clean until we sell it!

We're headed to Mexia this weekend- it's my cousin's son's birthday party. I'm really excited - I love to get together with family! ANd it's been a while since everyone has seen Kensley.
