This one I did a tight crop; her eyes are beautiful! I used a Lightroom Preset (Soulshine- Walk on the Beach) I tweaked the layers, but still don't 100% like it. I am still learning how to really tweak the LR presets. I need to buy Scot Kelby's book! :)
This one I pulled into LR3 and fixed the white balance by putting the eye dropper in the white of her eyes. I then exported and pulled it into PSE8. I have a preset from Coffeeshop (Butterscotch Vintage). This is one of my favorite presets :) I tweaked each layer and this is what I came up with.

This WAS a really great picture to start with! I love her eyes! Your girls are beautiful! How far apart are they?? I am pregnant with our second girl (due in March). They will be about 1.5 apart.

I wish I knew what you were talking about as you describe what you did....but I don't! Maybe someday! All I know is that the picture is beautiful!
