It's been a good week!

Well, these last few days have been really busy for Kensley & I. Liz (Nana) came up and stayed a couple days with us. It's always nice to have someone come up because I get a lot of help with Kensley. Liz gave Kensley her baths, fed her cereal and played with her. They had a blast together! She got here Tuesday and we ate at Jason's Deli and then went into a few stores that are going up around the house. We went into JC Penney and came out with quite a few outfits for Miss Kensley! Then yesterday we went over to Grapevine. I had to get my car fixed so she followed me over there. We headed to Sam Moon first. I LOVE that store! I SOOO wanted a purse but had a hard time justifying me buying one when I carry a diaper bag around right now! I got some really cute jewelry though- so it was a good trip! We then headed to the Grapevine Mills mall. Lindsey met us there and shopped with us all day. We had a great time. All three of us got our eyebrows threaded. Now let me say this- I have passed that booth in the mall hundreds of times and every time I go by, those ladies sitting in the chair don't look like they're in pain at all. Well, I will admit, it hurt like a son of a gun!!! I had been growing my eyebrows out so they could shape them.... and they look great now... but it was very painful! We all had a few good laughs at eachother... Even though the first time is painful, I recommend this over waxing any day!! I didn't take any pictures of our outings- (only on my phone).... but I'll be posting pictures soon! Tomorrow is our Valentine's Party for the little ones... I can't wait! It's going to be a lot of fun.

What a great Sunday!

Well, we have had a wonderful Sunday! This morning we got up and went to church. I really like this church we are attending now. The pastor is wonderful and it just feels right. Kensley went to the nursery and slept the whole time- she was a good girl! :) Lindsey met us at church and then came over. Kent went to play golf so me, Kensley and Lindsey went shopping. It wasn't very pretty outside- really windy and cloudy all day. Kensley did really well= slept a lot. If anyone knows me well, they know that I take pictures.... a lot! So any time Kent is dressed nice, I always have to get pictures! So I took advantage of a photo-op this morning... I think the pictures turned out really well....

Here's a couple more from today.

Trying to figure out her new bottle. Hanging out with Aunt Lilly!

What to do on a beautiful day like this...

Well, so far we have just been lazy today.... Kent is currently getting his hair cut and working out. So Kensley and I are at the house just hanging out. I've been cleaning but am taking a break. Whitney & Holly are coming over on Monday so we can try to whip up some bows & tutus. Hopefully we can get some really cute outfits made and then sell them at Trade Days. Last night we went and ate at Christina's with Megan & Christian. I am so ready for them to have a baby! They are such a cute couple and have been great friends to us. I just had a little photoshoot with miss Kensley... here are a few pictures... she needed a nap and was trying to poop while I had her outside, so we just quit. I'm going to try to get some better ones later today.

What a beautiful day!

Today has been so pretty! Kensley & I got up this morning and rode with Holly & Maddox to a new mom's group with the Gateway Church. I have been wanting to be a part of a Christian based group for a long time. It's hard for us to make church on the weekends- we may be traveling or Kent really doesn't want to have to get up on Sunday mornings... so I'm hoping this will fill that longing I've had for a while now. Gateway has services on Saturday- so we may try to make some of those... I'm really excited about it. Anyways, the group was great. We met a lot of other moms and we were able to invite them to join us for our Valentine's Party next week. Which I'm SO excited about! Whitney is having it at her house- she's such a great hostess! We've got a lot to do... and I'm excited to bake the cake balls... they are fantastic!

My MIL is coming to town next week so I have a lot planned for us. It's no fun to stay locked up in the house! We are going to go shopping- I have to get my car fixed, so we'll take it in and shop while they're working on it. Then I need to get my car washed- and get my hair cut... I am also counting on my workout partner to workout with me in the mornings all next week! :) It makes me feel so much better when I get up and work out. Since Liz will be here, she can keep Kensley at the house while I'm gone.

Here's a picture from today- miss Kensley took a SHORT, and I mean SHORT nap in her swing. She hasn't had a really good nap all day because we were on the go all morning. Oh well- hopefully she will be out sooner tonight!

It's been a few days....

Wow! I just realized it's almost been a week since I've updated my blog!
Last week Kensley went to the Dr. for her 5 month appointment. She weighs almost 15 lbs and is 26.5 inches long! She got her 2nd round of shots and did great. She slept a LOT that evening and into the next day. It was nice! :) Here she is at 5 months!

On Monday we went to Holly & Maddox's to make Valentine invitations for the little party. While we were there, it continued to rain and freeze! Luckily Lance got mine and Whitney's car windows de-iced and we creeped back home! Here are a couple pictures of the little ones.

This past weekend we made a trip to our parent's. I had a lot of plans, however Kent talked me into making the trip. He had to go because he and his dad were meeting a guy to buy cattle from. So we are now proud owners of a cows! I am pretty excited. I would love to one day live on some land with cows. I am currently making a list of things I want in my house one day. :) Anyways, it was a beautiful weekend! I am so ready for the spring weather so I can take Kensley out more often. Here we are at my mom's house. It was so pretty, we took her swing outside and I fed her cereal out there.

We had plans to go to some friends' house up here but we ended up staying in Mexia and watching it with my cousin and some friends. Kent didn't get back until late- so we would have been in the car for most of the game. I'm really not into football, so I didn't really care who won! :)

So far this week has been really good. We've been to the gym with Whitney & Hailey everyday- it's so nice to be back working out! My knee has been killing me- every since we went skiing, it's been hurting. I probably need to go to the doctor, but I really don't want to. So I'm just riding the bike at the gym for my lower body and then I've lifted weights for my upper body. It's better than nothing! We went early this morning because Whitney had to go to an interview with her husband.

Kensley has been doing really well- she's still sleeping in her crib at night. I am so happy about that. It still melts my heart everytime she gets up from a nap. She smiles to big and is so happy! I can't believe the end of this month she'll be 6 months! Time really does fly by! She has now been eating cereal (or oatmeal) with apples, bananas or prunes. We tried pears one night and that night was HORRIBLE! It probably had nothing to do with the pears, but I'm scared to try them again! haha I also found her a sippie cup that she likes. She doesn't get much out of it right now- but I'm just wanting her to get the hang of using it. She knows how to use it and that's what I want her to work on now. She'll learn how to get the juice out soon enough. It's hard for Kent and I to get it out! But I think it's because we have teeth :)

Right before her bath- Kent has always wanted a take a picture like this....I think we waited a little too long! haha She wouldn't stay still!

Next Friday- the 13th- we are having a Valentine's Party... Kensley, Hailey Grace & Maddox are throwing it for their friends :-) We're going to have it at Whitney & Hailey's house. I'm pretty excited about it. It's always fun to get together with a bunch of other kiddos. Speaking of a bunch of kiddos- the church Kent and I are visiting had a brochure of small groups. I found one for moms with new babies. Holly & I are going to try it out. I am really excited about it. I'm not sure if it is a devotional group or if it's just a mom's group. Either way, it'll be something to get involved in! *Maybe Whitney will come too if it fits in her schedule!* :)

Icestorms are no good!

Well, I logged on to blog last night but was interrupted by Kensley screaming and crying. I'm not sure what was wrong with her. She went down before 10 and then kept waking up crying. I would have to pick her up and hold her- at midnight we were in her room and I was rocking her. I put her down and she woke up again. So for the first time in a week and a half, she slept with me in bed! I didn't want to do it but I was exhausted and I knew we had her Dr. appointment at 9AM this morning.
Yesterday we went to Holly's and hung out with Holly & Maddox and Whitney & Hailey. They are all so cute together. It's fun to watch them play. Kensley is still the laid back one- she just watches everyone around her. I was a little worried, but I think it's just her demeanor. When Whitney & I were ready to leave, we walked out to our cars and they were covered in ice- Lance had to help us out by scraping our windows so we could see. We both got home safe & sound!
This morning was Kensley's dr. appointment for her second set of shots. It was at 9AM but there was no way I could get in my car. The doors were frozen shut and I was scared to get on the roads. It was like a ghost town in our neighborhood. We ended up leaving around 9:30. It took us almost an hour to get there! We didn't drive above 25mph the whole way. I was very nervous!
Miss Kensley is growing like a weed- she is 15lbs & 26.5 inches long. Everything looked great and he said to continue giving her rice cereal (or oatmeal) with a fruit. We've done apples, bananas and prunes. She loves the prunes- crazy thing! Once she hits 6 months, we're good to go on almost anything. We just have to blend it up. So that'll be interesting. I just can't believe that she's already eating foods! Time flies by so fast. We're still breastfeeding- and I try to give her cereal once or twice a day.

Here's a couple pictures from the day.

All three playing. Kensley just laid in this and relaxed. :)

Feeling eachother out...... Maddox liked her bow

Here's a video from last night- she was in a great mood!

What a beautiful day!

It was absolutely gorgeous today! The high was 80- and yes, it is still January! We tried to enjoy the weather as much as possible. I had to get my teeth cleaned and then we headed to the mall. I only had time to run into Children's Place because we went to visit Kimberly at school. It was really nice to see all the teachers and coaches. Unfortunately, when we got down to the gym for athletics, they had a fire drill! What were they thinking?! Poor Kensley was really sleepy but was hammin' it up for everyone around....UNTIL the fire alarm went off. Poor thing was scared to death- the noise hurt her ears, i'm sure. Once everything was clear and we went inside, I put her in her car seat and she was out in a minute! Tonight has been good... I watched The Drs. I record it every morning- it's the best! I am hooked on it... thanks to Kat. If you don't watch it, I highly recommend it.

Here's to another night....

Well, the last 2 nights Kensley has slept in her crib! I am so excited- I only hope that I can stay strong and not let her get in the bed with us! I'm not sure what did it in. My mom came up on Sunday and stayed the night- she put her in her crib Sunday night and she slept there! So tonight will make 3 nights.... hopefully we won't have any trouble...

Kensley & I went over to Whitney's today to play with Hailey and take pictures. (Whitney mentioned starting a blog- so I think I'm going to do that!) We wanted to take some cute Valentine's pictures for possible cards. It is so much fun to get together with them- I can't wait until they start interacting together.

I have a new job- or so I call it. Kent and his dad are wanting to purchase some cattle for some land we own and so I told Kent I wanted to help out in some way. So I am to do all the research on the basics of raising cattle. I'm pretty excited about it!

What a weekend!

Well this past weekend was full of "adventures". I never get sick- however, this weekend changed that. I woke up Saturday morning in pain. My stomach hurt so bad. I ended up having to call Care Now and get in for an appointment. Kent had to leave to get some things done- so it was just me and Kensley at home. Luckily, my friend Whitney offered to keep her at her house. She was a lifesaver! I dropped Kensley off there on my way to Care Now. They did an x-ray of my stomach, blood work and then a uranalysis. They thought it could be an ulcer so they gave me the lovely "cocktail" shot. Well, that only made my pains worse and I threw up. So they told me I needed to go to the ER so they could take more extensive tests and do a sono of my stomach. Lindsey lives up here, thankfully- and she was off work! She was going to come over and visit- little did she know, she was getting herself into something more! haha She came with Kent up to Care Now to pick me up. I couldn't drive because the pains were so bad. We picked up Kensley, went to the house and then headed to the ER. Kensley had her first day trip to the hospital- she did great! After 5 hours & morphine, we were ready to be released. They gave me three medications- for stomach ulcers, UTI and nausea. I thought I couldn't nurse Kensley but after talking to a friend that is a pediatric nurse, she told me I could! I was SOO happy- because Kensley is very anti-bottles. It's bad. I am feeling a little better now... this is not fun!

My mom came up here to help out today while Kent is at work. Last night Kensley was such a big girl! She slept in her crib! I was so excited! Hopefully we can do that two nights in a row!

Blogs....

Well, I opened this account back in August in hopes to start blogging on this instead of googlepages. Well, obviously that hasn't happened. I have copied/pasted my first blog about Kensley's birth....

September 2, 2008
Kensley came into the world on August 26th at 4:10pm. We went to the hospital at 5:30am, got checked in and they started my pitocin at 6:30. The Dr. came and broke my water at 9:00 and I had my epidural by 9:30. The rest of the day went by really fast. Our nurse was amazing! By 3:45, I was ready to start pushing. I did a few "warm up" pushes and the nurse had to call the dr. It took him about 15-20 minutes to get up to the room- which was a little scary because Miss Kensley was ready to come out before then! As he walked in, she was sliding out- the nurse had to stop her while the dr. put his scrubs on and got everything ready. So at 4:10, she was born- she was so beautiful and pink. Kent and my mom took pictures of her and then Kent and I got to spend a few minutes with her alone.
We spent two nights in the hospital. We sent Kensley to the nursery at night so we could get some rest. Kent stayed the first night with me- it was a little rough because I was still hooked up to the IV and that made noise all night. The second night my mom stayed so Kent could go home and get a good night's sleep. I slept a lot better that night. No IV's hooked up to me so it was a lot easier to get up and down (and less noisy). We ended up leaving the hospital at about 11:30. The rest of the day at home was nice and peaceful.
Today, Kensley is a week old. She is such a great baby. She doesn't cry a lot- I try to get her fed when she's making noises or is "rooting". She screams at the top of her lungs when we give her baths. Kent and I gave her one the other night and she didn't like it at all. Kent doesn't like it when she cries, so he lets me do that part- and then he gets the towel and just saves the day! He bundles her up in that and she stops crying. Usually every night before we go to bed, she lays on Kent for a while. That's their bonding time :) We've had so much company, it's been pretty crazy. My mom is up here this week to help out, which is nice, but we have such a small house that it's been stressing Kent and I out a little. We like to have everything picked up and out of the way- and it's just hard to have it like that when people are over here all the time. But we'll survive! :-)
So all in all, this baby has been such a blessing to us. Kent and I have become so much closer- and in such a different way. It's amazing and I love it. Kensley has really filled that special place in our hearts.
