Park play date

It was a gorgeous day today. Mid 60's... sun was shining.... So nice. We got up this morning and ate breakfast- I debated on going to the gym or not- decided we'd just go for a run around the neighborhood. Well, about 2 minutes into that I thought- oh I want to go to the mall and pick up the girls some new shoes. I've been wanting to do this for a while but just haven't had the chance. It was nice out and we had a park play date this afternoon, so I knew that was the only time. So I ran a little further and turned around and headed back home. Short-lived run. :)

The shoes I have been wanting to buy the girls are the TOMS. They are kind of the ugly-cute trend going around right now. The company is a great cause- for every shoe purchased, they donate a pair of shoes to a kid in need. So, it's a win-win, right? ;) So we go into Nordstrom's and Kensley immediately goes to see Nemo (I have a hard time getting her away from their fish tank) and then she decided to walk over to the little girls shoes where me and Kallie were. She's at the age where she wants to pick out her own stuff. Well, I put them on Kallie and LOVED them. I let her walk around in them and she did great. I put them on Kensley and loved them but knew she probably wouldn't wear them.... mainly because she was glued to some ballet slipper shoes they had. There were silver and gold so she walked around with two right-foot shoes on; one silver, one gold. After asking her 3+ times if she wanted the pink TOMS, she said no, she wanted the other shoes. So she picked them out and we put on the right size. She was in heaven. haha She wore them the rest of the afternoon- I had to pry them off of her when we went to the park because I didn't want her messing them up. haha

So here's what we left Nordstrom's with :)

Yes, they are ALREADY dirty. Ugh. I've got to clean them when I'm done blogging.

These already have marker on them- UGH. Luckily it's washable. Geez. These girls are rough on shoes!

After returning home, Kallie was beat. She went down for a nap and didn't wake up until about 3:50 (the play date started at 4 and was 20 minutes away!) So we were late- but it was ok. It was just at a park. No biggy.

Each kid got a paper bag with a piece of paper attached that showed them things to look for- Scavenger Hunt. Kensley wasn't really feeling it. She had spotted some M&M's (because everyone brought a snack and at the end, the kids make their own trail mix) and that's all she talked about the ENTIRE time I was trying to get her to participate in the scavenger hunt. So that was a f-a-i-l.

They both had a blast on the play ground. Kensley was going up and down the big slide like it was nothing. Kallie was just wondering around all the equipment. Unfortunately, as the day progressed, so did the chilly wind.  If it would have STOPPED, it would have been a nice afternoon

I am sure the kid's TOMS wash as well as the adult ones... my sister and I just toss ours in the washer and go.

I love the TOM trend!
