Taking DC... wide angle style

Well, I had big dreams of renting a wide angle lens and getting to really take some good landscape pictures of DC. While my "dream" wasn't completely shattered, it was shaken a bit. I have come to terms that I will NEVER have a smooth trip to DC. Ever. And I'm just going to have to deal with it. Something always happens. We thought if we could take the metro, all of our problems would be solved. WRONG! It doesn't work if you get there too late and all the parking spots are full. So we wasted an hour driving to a full parking lot and then another 45 minutes or so getting into DC. After trying our luck at a couple different parking meters, we finally found one that worked- and it was right in the middle of the National Mall. Score! .........kind of....... we didn't have enough quarters to put in the meter... so we put what we had (enough for 45 minutes) and then had to search for more. So our trip to DC consisted of trips to random museums and their cafeterias (to get change) and then we walked around outside the Capitol (we were suppose to have a tour but missed it because we got there too late). We got back in the car and drove to Arlington National Cemetery and did a nice speedwalk around and saw Kennedy's grave and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

After all my complaining, I will say that one of the main things that we had going FOR us was it didn't rain! It was forecasted to rain, but it held off while we were out. Yay! :)

So despite our obstacles, we had a nice time. The Arlington Cemetery was breathtaking. All the tombs was unreal. I'm glad I was able to get some good pictures of it. 

So there you have it! Our trip to DC.... wide angle style!

Ready for spring!

We've had some pretty days the past couple weekends, so we've been trying to take advantage.

The girls love to play outside.

And, on a whim, we decided to take the girls to the National Zoo. Kensley loved looking at all the animals!

New kitchen!

For Kallie's birthday, we got her (and Kensley) a new kitchen! Both girls helped put it together ;)

Park Time!

These were from last weekend but I am just now getting around to posting. It was beautiful out last Saturday so we took the girls on a walk to the park. There's just a small park down the street with one piece of equipment. There's never any other kids on it, so it's perfect. Kensley can run around like a crazy woman and Kallie.... well, she TRIES to run around everywhere!

TGIF!

This week has really gone by fast! We've stayed pretty busy; just like I like it :) We went to the gym Mon-Wed. I'm taking the classes there and LOVE it. It's so much fun and so nice to be sore! haha I have a love-hate relationship with being sore. We didn't get to go yesterday or today. I was too much of a wuss yesterday. The class was Body Pump, which is with weights, and I knew I was too sore to do anything! So I kept telling myself I would take the girls outside and go running.... never happened. Then today was a day of photo shoots! I did some head shots and then a session with a 2 year old (she's in Kensley's play group). Then Kensley's favorite three girls came to visit her. And both girls are sacked out right now- totally not a normal routine! I MUST wake them after I finish blogging!

I had my paper set up for the pictures with the 2 year old- our first "scene" was going to be St. Patrick's Day. So I threw Kensley's dress from last year on Kallie and snapped away.






While I took these, Kensley insisted on wearing the dress. And much to my surprise.... it still fit! HA! So she's wearing an 18m dress here.




*So it actually took me about three times as long to write this blog. So after two kids waking up crying, playing with the youngest for a bit (as she continues to whine) and then giving both of them a dose of Benedryl, I am able to finish this blog.
